when i was in elementary school, there was a very nice but very quirky boy in my grade. let's call him "Steve" becuase that was his name. he was super tall and thin. he could do the splits. and he would often refer to himself as the "new kid", even after he'd been around for...oh i don't know...a LEAST a year. things like, "i forgot my library book becuase i didn't realize it was library day. i'm the new kid." now, even as elementary-sweatpants only-lindsey, i knew that there was a statute of limitations on how long people will agree with the fact that you are indeed "new".
i tell you that story to tell you this...
i'm a little like Steve. in my mind, i'm totally the "new kid", even though we've lived here now for a year and a half. in fact, the entire four years we lived in California, i had a "new kid" mentality. so if you catch me waving my newkidflag, please feel free to roll your eyes. and in that spirit, i'd like to start a new series. since i'm so TOTALLY a pennsylvanian (pennsylvanite?), i consider myself qualified to show you around the Lehigh Valley, specifically the parts and parcels that make it oh-so-unique.
and as a disclaimer, while i might poke fun at times, it is only out of love. becuase we DO love it here. and this IS a great place to live. i would never want someone from the valley to read a lehighism and take offense. so, becuase it's awesome, we can afford to laugh at ourselves, now can't we? :)
i'll post the first "Lehigh-ism" soon, so keep an eye out....

Oh you make me laugh Lindsey! How you got from point "Steve" to point Pennsylvania, I'll never know but I really needed that laugh.
I wonder if he can still do the splits. I'm pretty sure no one in the history of doing the splits did them quite as well as he did.
