about.

this blog exists because i like to write, we live far away from our extended families, and it's the most efficient way i've found to chronicle our day-to-day life. i enjoy looking back at past posts to see how the kids have grown. plus, i love comments. i'm ever greedy for comments.

if you happen to stumble upon this blog without actually knowing me, let me give you the bare- bones-411 on our little cast of characters:
sadietot, me, lucas, babymolly
i'm a soon-to-be 30 year old, domestic engineer. i grew up on a dairy farm in Indiana and am happily married to my high school sweetheart, lucas. sadie was born in November 2009 and Molly joined us in January 2012. and just to be clear, it took about fifty attempts to get the above family picture. most look a lot more like this:

yikes.
no family is perfect, no life without it's struggles...but what you'll find here are the happy moments of our overwhelmingly blessed life.

and as for the blog title...

a long while back, a friend and i were walking....and talking and talking.

in the midst of that really ordinary night, my extraordinary friend said something that's stuck with me. she said our 20s and 30s are really our "building years". that this is the time in our lives when we're building marriages, careers, families, and (hopefully)living monuments to a gracious and sovereign Savior.  we're working hard and setting foundations, praying that in the years to come we'll see what we've made and find it faithful and fruitful.

if that doesn't sum up this time of life, i'm not sure what does.

since we'll be leaving the Lehigh Valley in a few months (August 2012), a blog titled "Living the LeHigh Life" just won't do. it won't do at all.

so, welcome to "The Building Years".
