he asked "wilt thou?" and she wilted.

my baby brother gets married this weekend.
as such, i've been thinking alot about marriage.
i thought about writing a post with all of my unsolicited marriage advice, but decided against it (your welcome).  instead, i will share the following:
  • while at a church function, a very godly and earnest lady told me that whenever a young woman gets engaged she challenges them to "imagine their fiance without arms and legs" and then consider if they could still love them. i would pay a lot of money to take back the inappropriate laughter that escaped from me when i envisioned lucas without any limbs.
  • a good marriage is about the best thing that can happen to a person. and i have no doubt that a bad one would suck the life out of you faster than any number of regrettable habits.
  • when we released our wedding guests, lucas's great grandma hugged us both and said "just be NICE to each other and you'll be fine!!"  a simple truth that i'm reminded of all the time
  • your spouse is the one and only family member you get to choose. you don't pick your parents or siblings or even your kids.  isn't that strange to think about?  isn't it an awesome responsibility?
i love my husband. he's a gift that i will treasure for the rest of my life. and for those who are wondering..yes, i would love him even if he was limbless. apparently, that's how you know it's for real.

Once again Lidz, you come off with something hilarious. Can't wait to see you this weekend. Can't believe Austin is getting married either! BUT....seeing Brent limbless would elicit some laughter from me as well. I guess after 13 1/2 years of marriage, if I can STILL put up with the spontaneous "take downs" as he calls it on an especially grumpy day from me (to get my anger out he says), I guess it's real. Lord help me if it's not!

Good Advice! Especially the being nice part! I feel like if people took that into every part of their lives we'd all be better off!

And no, I'm not getting married in Ohio, but that's where our caterer is :) She's amazing!

Have fun this weekend!

LOL... this is the best marriage advice EVER. :-) love you, and thank you for the card. How could I have almost forgotten those two special words, bloop bloop? I will attribute my forgetfulness to three children and too many miles between us:). xo!
