a cry for help.

let's say for a moment that a few things are true about you:
  1. you hate to shop for clothes.
  2. you have a life-long tendency of buying clothes that are a completely wrong size (usually too big).
  3. the clothes you currently have make you feel slightly deformed because they are old and thus marginally fit your pre-tot shape (see #2)....making the post-tot fit a whooooollleee different story
  4. for four years you lived in a place that DIDN'T HAVE WINTER, so the vast majority of your warm clothes are from college thanks to #1
  5. your beloved younger brother is getting married in ohhhhh about three weeks
what would you wear to this wedding?
where would you even begin to LOOK?

seriously, any suggestions would be appreciated.
where do you look for a dress that is all of the following:
  1. not the perfect outfit for a Class of 2012 Sweetheart Dance floozy (were we that bad!?)
  2. not meant for a senior citizen
  3. not too low cut
  4. not too short
  5. marginally warm
  6. not black, possibly something pink/white
if i can't find something soon, i am honest to goodness going to wear this:

default dress
it fits the criteria and no one can say that it lacks festive flair.
good grief. wish me luck.

It's a tough one! I had the same problem for Timmy's wedding! Luckily, every wedding I've been to since then, I've been in the wedding so they pretty much chose my dress for me :) And no, we never looked as ridiculous as the dresses that are out there! I was APPALLED by some of the prom dresses my cousins' friends wore last year!

It is so hard! There's always Macy's and JCPennys. I got lucky one time and found a dress at Gap that worked well (and it was on sale!) You could even browse the clearance at Banana Republic (unless you're not a cheapo like me, then browse the regular stuff :) ).

I'm trying to figure out when we just start shopping at Christopher Banks :)

I can't believe we have to go over this again. Ann Taylor or Ann Taylor Loft. There clothes are so tasteful and they have lots of dresses, skirts, outfits, etc. Please promise me you'll at least go check it out? Plus, their stuff fits great and lasts forever. I've taken the liberty of finding you one close to your home: Oh what do you know, the LeHigh Valley Mall.

First of all, that dress doesn't EXACTLY "fit the criteria" previously mentioned. It is definitely made for a senior citizen, therefore I don't think any class of 2012 senior gal would be caught dead in it. And I hope you won't either! Good gravy! :) hehe
I am not commenting to give fashion advice. I haven't bought a nice outfit since before I started working third shift (ahem:: 2 years ago). My daily attire now consists of jeans and whatever shirt I see first in my closet (usually a hoodie, to be honest).
But......... I will say that whenever I had to get something that coordinated with itself, I always asked a sales person to help. For example, the chicks at Maurice's are snazzy chicks so they know how to dress people [me].
If all else fails and there is no snazzy chick to help you, copy whatever the mannequins have on them. They always look dapper!

Or... wear a hoodie and jeans. At least you'll be warm, comfortable and hoodies are not low cut by any stretch of the imagination :)

HAHAHAHAHA! If you wear that dress PROMISE that you will send me pictures?? :) Actually if you wear that dress I'm going to try really really hard to be at that wedding! Not that I wouldnt love to come anyway, but that would be pretty hard to miss! Soooo, it might be because my mom works there and helps me, but I've had some success at Dillards. Although I would definitely prefer the jeans and tshirt route. more comfortable. finding clothes to wear after the comfort of maternity clothes is just not fun. And I think that where to shop i.e. which department? should be a blog topic. At our age - with children - I feel awkward in the jr's, too young for the womans, and I'm just not sure where I fit in...
Oh and I agree with Candice. Try Ann Taylor. seriously sweet clothes.
