retreat! but not in a bad way.

source

no, not retreat as in flee or give up

retreat as in time away, like this past weekend at our church's Women's Retreat.  ((i think it's weird that the same word can have such incredibly different connotations. Communications Degree hangover, anyone?))

oh man. i've been looking forward to it for a while, because time in the Word, in prayer, in fellowship was just bound to be fabulous.  and even if it wasn't, i was still going to be AWAY...for the first time by myself since sadietot made an appearance.

you can just bet that i wasn't disappointed.
in no particular order, let me list a few highlights:
  • roomed with a good friend and talked to her without being interrupted by even ONE adorable, wordless, short person  ((not that we didn't miss them a little!))
  • was a doubting thomas at a juicing demonstration..."i highly doubt that you can't taste the spinach in this thing"  ((i was wrong! converted!))
  • sang, cried, prayed, rejoiced, studied and was met right where i was by a loving and gracious God
  • watched this video and FOR REAL thought i might pass out from laughing so hard.
  • met all sorts of fun and interesting ladies.
  • got kinda lost in the muddy woods (fun!) and wore a near-stranger's shoes for the rest of the evening.
  • witnessed confession, forgiveness, inspiration, and all out celebration shared between sisters in Christ
  • got a little car-sick on the way there
  • got a little home-sick on the way back
  • came away convinced that i'll be there again next year

and i've had this song in my head ever since we sang it yesterday.  am i the last one to fall in love with it?  maybe. better late than never.
